Flea Facts
A single female flea can lay 20–50 eggs per day, and hundreds in her lifetime. Even a small problem can escalate rapidly.
Fleas don’t just live on pets, approximately 95% of an infestation exists in the environment (eggs, larvae, and pupae in carpets, bedding, and cracks), with only 5% on the animal, therefore when you can see the fleas on your pet, you can guarantee you have an infestation at home.
Fleas feed on blood and can cause Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD), where even one bite leads to intense itching and skin damage.
Fleas can transmit parasites such as tapeworms when pets ingest infected fleas during grooming. Which is why we are combining this injection with an intestinal worming package.
Flea pupae (cocoon stage) can remain dormant for weeks to months, emerging when triggered by warmth, vibration (like vacuuming), or carbon dioxide.
Why Flea Control Must Be Year-Round
Fleas do not die off completely in winter, indoor environments kept warm, allow fleas to survive in carpets, bedding, and furniture year-round. Modern homes create ideal conditions, heating maintains temperatures that support continuous flea development, so there is no true “off season.”
Breaks in treatment restart infestations Missing even one month allows immature flea stages to mature, leading to rapid reinfestation.
Prevention Approach
Year-round prevention is essential to break the flea lifecycle
Bravecto Quantum is recommended as a long-acting flea treatment option to maintain consistent protection. Especially for pets that swim frequently, the Bravecto injection is recommended for optimal, reliable coverage as it is not affected by water exposure.
Prevention is significantly easier and more effective than eliminating an established infestation.
Why It Matters
Protects pets from discomfort, skin disease, and parasite transmission.
Reduces risk of fleas spreading within the home environment.
Minimizes human exposure to flea bites and associated irritation.
