Feline Core Vaccine - FeLV

Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate. Just like humans cats require annual immunisations to keep them healthy and protected against infectious disease. Within Australia, it is recommended that cats receive a core vaccine- F3, which protects against three common diseases: Feline Panleukopenia, Feline Calicivirus and Feline Herpesvirus.

Feline panleukopenia is a disease of that intestinal tract that progresses very quickly, and is often fatal. It is contracted through the environment, and can withstand for months at a time. Feline calicivirus and feline herpesvirus are both causes of a respiratory disease in cats, also known as cat flu. Cat flu can be quite debilitating and once contracted, cats may show symptoms on and off throughout their lives when under stress. This core vaccine can be received as a course for kittens as well as previously unvaccinated adult cats.

An F3 vaccine is administered annually to ensure continued protection, especially those felines that have a history of cat flu. Along side vaccines, there are other products available to help with their immunity. We are always more than happy to chat about our feline babies (especially Kylie!).
