Strengthening Wildlife Care with Our Second WIRES Grant

We’re proud to share that our clinic were recently successfully with our second WIRES Grant Application helping us expand our ability to care for sick and injured native animals in need of critical care.

This funding will supported the purchase of four Brinsea TLC-30 Advanced mobile ICU units and two larger Curadle 90 ICU units. These specialised units provide warm, stable, and low-stress environments that are vital in the early stages of treatment.

By distributing these ICU units across multiple treatment zones in our facility, we’ve increased our capacity to manage more critical care cases while also supporting the growth of our wildlife volunteer program, which now includes over 40 trained volunteers. As part of their onboarding, volunteers are taught how to use this equipment and why it’s so essential to patient recovery.

On the North West Coast of Tasmania, where wildlife is frequently impacted by road trauma, habitat loss, and severe weather, this kind of equipment isn’t a luxury — it’s essential.

We’re incredibly grateful to WIRES for their continued support and commitment to helping us give Tasmania’s wildlife the best possible chance of survival and recovery.

These new ICU units were purchased with grant funding from WIRES through their annual National Grants Program.
